CTF Funded Projects

The Children’s Trust Fund has joined with the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, and the the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to fund the Partners in Prevention project, which is administered by Prevent Child Abuse West Virginia.

Partners in Prevention is based on the belief that child well-being hinges on the capacity of local communities to support families and protect children. More than 20 community teams are participating in Partners in Prevention. Each is implementing one or more local projects and together involve more than 300 partners from diverse groups. In their first year, the community teams provided face-to-face services and training to more than 10,000 children, parents, staff, volunteers and concerned citizens.

Partners in Prevention directly funds projects in communities across the state. The funding, and the projects, remain in West Virginia.

Partners in Prevention and the Children’s Trust Fund makes possible projects that offer:

  • Increased community and professional understanding of how to keep children free from child abuse and neglect in Fayette County.
  • Programs such as “Parents as Teachers” which works with new parents by offering in-home family education.
  • Education to faith communities to assist them in supporting families.
  • Parenting classes in Berkeley, Morgan, and Jefferson Counties,

…and much more. Click here for a complete list of projects funded in the 2006-2007—fiscal year. Click here for a map of Partners in Prevention program locations.
