About the West Virginia Children's Trust Fund
The Childrens Trust Fund raises money for innovative
programs and services in local communities that prevent
child abuse and neglect. Programs are funded from the
interest earned on the Fund. Contributions are made
by West Virginia citizens, businesses and other funders.
These contributions also help to generate federal matching
funds.
In other words, when donations are made to the fund,
the money multiplies. Your dollars bring in more dollars
automatically.
Donations are also
tax-deductible.
The Childrens Trust Fund produces results. For
example, in 2004-05 because of the CTF,
- 9,900
children, parents, staff and concerned citizens received
face-to-face
services and/or training.
- 97,385
copies of educational materials were distributed to
parents,
professionals and the public.

Partners in Prevention, which is funded by the Childrens
Trust Fund, is a new approach to keeping children safe
from abuse and neglect based on the belief that child
well-being hinges on the capacity of local communities
to support families and protect children.

The initiative has three key elements:
- Flexible
mini-grants that encourage new thinking.
- Educational
opportunities focused on the latest research and best
practice.
- Peer-to-peer
consultation among the grantees to share ideas and
lessons learned.
The WV Childrens Trust Fund began in 1991 by
legislative order. Most of the contributions come from
taxpayers checking a dedicated box on their state tax
returns. Now you can donate through the secure
website as well.
Children are our future. And theres no better
investment.
